Pakistani startup Cowler won $10,000 at Pakistan startup cup

Cowlar team won $10,000 for pitching at the Pakistan startup cup. The competition was organized by Start-Up Cup in Collaboration with TiE and the US State Department, which aimed to encourage entrepreneurs in the country and taking several initiatives to boost the implementation of innovative ideas in the country. Cowlar is a unique wearable monitoring system based on the improvement of dairy milk production and better health of dairy animals. Cowlar team leader Azfar Kashif in collaboration with all the team members including Umer Ilyas, Usman Liaquat and Munaim Ashraf brilliantly presented the idea and successfully won the competition.
Earlier, Cowlar’s CEO, Mr. Umer Adnan had announced to spend the prize money to provide free of cost cowlars to dairy farmers near Islamabad and vowed to build a model Cowlar village. Considering the best possible way of utilizing the money, team declared to provide 125 free Cowlars to the farmers in order to introduce them with the latest technology, generate awareness and validate the product. The judges of the competition much appreciated unique idea of this Pakistan’s First Dairy farming startup and termed it the best way of combining the technology and livestock.
TiE Islamabad initiated the Pakistan Start-Up Cup in 2013 with the collaboration of US embassy. Currently the program is limited to the four cities, i.e. Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, and Faisalabad. TiE is taking measures to extend the program in other cities as well to get the productive ideas from young minds and promote entrepreneurship in the country.

Cowlar (a fitbit for cows) is a wearable device for dairy animals designed to help farmers boost milk yield, optimize operations and improve herd health.
